COVID-19 cases are skyrocketing across the U.S., and rates in Hennepin County and Eden Prairie are following suit, based on data released today by Hennepin County.
The Eden Prairie COVID-19 14-day case rate jumped 82 percent for the period ending Nov. 9, according to the Hennepin County COVID-19 Dashboard.
The current rate reported is 56.5 cases per 10,000 residents, up from 31 for the previous two weeks ending Nov. 2. As of Nov. 9, there have been 1,403 cases of COVID-19 reported in Eden Prairie. The 12 deaths reported remained unchanged from the previous week.
Even with the substantial increase, the Eden Prairie COVID-19 rate is the lowest of surrounding communities and Hennepin County as a whole. See the accompanying chart for details.
The 56.5 case rate puts Eden Prairie Schools over the Minnesota Department of Health’s Learning Model Parameters suggesting distance learning for all students. The district anticipated the upward trend and announced Nov. 10 that all grade levels will go to distance learning by Dec. 1 for the remainder of the calendar year.
