“The Eden Prairie Local News (EPLN) team is eager to meet the people of Eden Prairie at Round Lake Park on the 4th,” said EPLN Editor Brad Canham.
“We’ve been publishing Eden Prairie local news stories since September of last year,” he said. “Against tall odds we’ve launched Eden Prairie’s homegrown news organization in the middle of a pandemic lockdown. In nine months EPLN has thrived and grown from 3,000 to 40,000 page views per month, a podcast, and now a print edition. Amazing.”
EPLN print edition launches Canham and the EPLN team will be handing out the first printed edition of EPLN at their booth in the vendors and food area at Round Lake Park on July 4, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The print version is an important part of EPLN’s connection to the community, said Canham. “Actual physical documents, for example the Declaration of Independence, are still the best at serving to build communities.”
Healthy communities, he said, have physical documents that reflect a community’s identity. “Religious texts, city charters that kind of thing, as well as a local newspaper dedicated to telling the unique unfolding stories about a place. We call it the Story of Us.”
“Eden Prairie demands the best EPLN can deliver. The July 1 print edition is our first, but it’s just the beginning,” said Canham. “EPLN is more than filling the massive void left when the Eden Prairie News closed – we’ve created something original.”
The inaugural print editions of Eden Prairie Local News will periodically augment its daily online news and feature stories, its daily podcast (“Hey Google play the Eden Prairie podcast”), and growing social media presence.
