Two people have died from injuries suffered in an early Sunday, Sept. 5, one-vehicle crash in Minnetonka.
The crash occurred after several vehicles suspected of street racing in Eden Prairie fled police.
KSTP-TV and social media posts identified Devlyn Voss, 19, of Maplewood, and Marina Emms, 19, of Woodbury, as the crash victims.
According to an Eden Prairie police statement, officers responded at 1:41 a.m. Sept. 5 to a 911 call indicating multiple vehicles were street racing at Flying Cloud Drive and Crosstown Circle.
Several vehicles fled the area as officers arrived, leading to a short pursuit of one vehicle as it traveled into Minnetonka.
Officers lost sight of the vehicle as it passed under Interstate 494. Police discovered the vehicle had crashed near a residence in the 5300 block of Baker Road in Minnetonka.
Voss, reportedly the driver, was declared dead at the scene. According to a family Facebook post, Emms died later on Sept. 5.
No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.
The Minnesota State Patrol is leading the crash investigation and reconstruction portion of the incident, with assistance from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.
