The funeral for Eden Prairie resident Mike Elhard is at noon Sept. 18 at Grace Church in Eden Prairie. Elhard’s body was found Sept. 14 less than 24 hours after he went missing during a run near his home.
Elhard, 39, left his home in southeast Eden Prairie the morning of Sept. 13 and his wife reported his disappearance to Eden Prairie Police and asked for help finding him on a Facebook post later that day.
He was found the following morning along Hennepin Town Road, north of Pioneer Trail, less than a mile from his home. Police have not released information about who found him, but did say that their initial investigation did not indicate foul play was involved.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner are conducting a full investigation. An official cause of death has not been released.
Elhard is described as an avid runner who was preparing for the Chicago Marathon Oct. 11. Elhard and his wife, Kristi, have two sons, Owen, 11, and Ethan, 8, according to a GoFundMe page created on his behalf.
Visitation and funeral information are available here. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. and funeral services are at noon.
The GoFundMe memorial had raised more than $58,000 as of Sept. 16.
