As winter slowly retreats in the metro area, light rail construction crews are returning to the 14.5-mile Metro Green Line Extension corridor.
Project officials say that although most of the heavy construction in Eden Prairie has been completed, drivers can expect a few traffic disruptions in the coming weeks. The project website recommends detours for each closure.
EP road closures
The Viking Drive intersection with southbound Flying Cloud Drive is slated to close on April 14 for several days. Traffic flaggers will be on-site to direct drivers to the businesses and hotels affected by the track work.
The intersection of Technology Drive and Flying Cloud Drive is slated to close for several days beginning Tuesday, April 19. Crews will be completing track work.
The entrance ramp from Valley View Road to eastbound Highway 212 is slated for closure on Monday, April 18, for six to eight weeks. Workers will be completing LRT construction in the area.
Overnight (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) closures are slated for eastbound Highway 212 between Shady Oak Bridge and Highway 62 on Monday, April 18. Westbound Highway 212 is slated for closure on Tuesday, April 19. Project officials say that additional closures in the area may be required.
Ongoing closure
West 70th Street near Golden Triangle Station will remain closed until mid-summer. Crews are prepping for and then laying LRT tracks in the area. Access to businesses along West 70th Street remains open via Shady Oak Road.
