It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Matthew P. Pellowski, 54, on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, due to a tragic snowmobile accident.
Matt was born on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1968, in Winona, Minnesota, to Janice and Mark Pellowski. He was the seventh of eight children.
After graduating from Winona Senior High, Matt worked his way through college as a school bus driver and graduated from Winona State university with a bachelor’s degree in business. During college he joined the business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi and made many lifelong friends.
Matt moved to the Twin Cities shortly after college and pursued his interest in technology, eventually earning his master’s degree in IT with a specialization in information assurance and security from Capella University. He worked for Strategic Education for 15 years and was promoted to director of technical support two years ago. He was especially proud of his role as a mentor for the Genesis Works program and the work he did on the board for Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless.
Matt had lots of hobbies, but his favorite activity was spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed hanging out at his family’s boathouse and fishing on the Mississippi. He was quick to smile and always willing to lend a helping hand. He LOVED telling dad jokes. And he could often be seen on his zero turn lawnmower, listening to music through his huge headphones with a cup in his hand, mowing neighbors yards up and down the block.
Preceded in death by both parents, as well as his brother John, and sisters Kathy and Mary.
Survived by wife, Amanda, daughters Autumn and Nevaeh, sisters Ann (Dave) Rakow and Karen Pellowski, brothers Mark (Debbie) Pellowski and Luke (Brenda) Pellowski, several nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.
In lieu of memorials, the family suggests donations to Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at St. Hubert Catholic Community, 8201 Main St., Chanhassen.
Visitation will take place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, at Huber Funeral Home Eden Prairie Chapel, 16394 Glory Lane, and one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Feb. 14.
Interment will be at St. Hubert Catholic Cemetery in Chanhassen.
