The Eden Prairie AM Rotary Club will host its second annual ECO EXPO from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 22, in the center court of Eden Prairie Center mall.
Admission is free, but a $10 donation to the Eden Prairie AM Rotary Foundation is suggested to help fund the club’s upcoming grants.
According to a news release, the organizers created this family-friendly event to inspire the residents of Eden Prairie and surrounding communities to “live sustainably” by contributing to their city’s eco-friendly goals, and “do good” by helping to fund the club’s upcoming grants.
The event will showcase more than 45 eco-exhibitors/sponsors, a raffle for exhibitor-donated eco-friendly items (listed on the event website), and a Family Fun Zone with various hands-on activities for kids.
Among the highlights of the Family Fun Zone are a baby goat exhibit, presentations by a beekeeper explaining how bees make honey, and a water exhibit featuring an “invader search” for invasive species. The zone will also provide educational resources on pollinators’ diets, a Recycle Relay where children can test their recycling and racing skills, and the opportunity for kids to plant seeds in take-home kits with the help of master gardeners.
“We are so excited to partner with our sponsors, exhibitors, and speakers to bring this inspiring, informative, and new fun event to our Eden Prairie community,” said Rotary Club event chair Tim Conners, who added that the focus of the fundraiser was motivated by Rotary International’s recently added seventh focus area, “Protecting the Environment.”
ECO EXPO vendors will share practical steps on how to protect and heal the environment, inspiring attendees to make a positive impact, the news release added. Students are encouraged to attend the event and talk to experts about eco-based internships and careers. All are welcome.
The Eden Prairie AM Rotary Club (EPAM) is one of the 46,000 worldwide Rotary clubs that embrace the motto “Service Above Self.” They meet for fellowship, to volunteer in the community, and to fund community and global grants. Community members are invited to attend EPAM meetings on Tuesdays at 7:30 a.m. at Central Middle School in Eden Prairie.
