Staring Lake Park came alive this past Sunday during the opening festivities of the city’s annual PeopleFest! A Community Celebration of Culture.
This week-long event aims to showcase the diverse traditions and talents found within the Eden Prairie community through interactive activities, exhibits, and performances.
The opening party featured a lineup of performance groups representing cultures from around the world. It included Makam Baklava, who entertained with their blend of Turkish, Bulgarian, and Balkan music; Larry Yazzie from Native Pride Arts, who performed Native American dances; graceful South Indian dances presented by the Taraangini School of Dance; and West African drumming and dance by Duniya Drum & Dance.
Additionally, Mexico Azteca brought Mexican folk dances to the stage, OMG (Onorach Mulhern Geraghty) showcased Irish dancing, and TaikoArts Midwest closed out the night with its energetic Japanese taiko drumming.
