Vivian Ellenore (Parno/Paine) Ess passed away peacefully at 3:32 a.m. on Aug. 2, 2023. Ronald Kenneth Ess, the love of her life and father of her children, was at her side just three days before their 45th wedding anniversary.
Vivian was predeceased by her parents, Oscar Parno Ivadell and Phillip Ott, brother Ken Parno and special friend Butch Blakstvedt. She is survived by her loving husband, Ron, and sister, Beverly Schroeder, and brother, LeRoy Parno; her four beloved children, Gregory, Jeffery (Shana), Timothy (Stacey), and Ryan (Kelsey); her grandchildren, Mackenzie, Joshua, Beckett, Everett Ess, and special friend, Debbie Trofholz.
Born October 19, 1946, in Minneapolis, Vivian graduated from Mound High School in 1964 and completed her education in cosmetology in 1972.
She worked at Golden Plaza Hair Design (1972-1978), Snips (1978-1997), Alpha International (1997-2004), and Couet’s Hair Design (2004-2005).
Although Vivian won many awards over the years for her hair design, she focused on making the people she came in contact with feel special. She was a great listener and always thoughtful with her responses. She loved entertaining and volunteering and was always open to a challenge in helping those in need and dropping everything for those in crisis. Vivian cherished the many, many friendships and was very comfortable with all these special persons.
Vivian loved the life she lived. She loved quilting with her girlfriends and everything related to creative crafts and interior decorating. She never complained about the cold hockey rinks and shuffling her four boys to hockey because she loved it. She was voted president of the Eden Prairie Hockey Moms, honoring the opening of Eden Prairie’s Community Center.
We loved her and her relentless drive to see the best in people inside and out. She would always say, “Life isn’t always perfect, but your hair can be.”
There will never be another like her.
Luvumom.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorials to the family.
A celebration of Vivian’s life will take place at Oak Ridge Country Club in Hopkins at 3 p.m. on Nov. 18.
