Preliminary approval of the City of Eden Prairie’s 2024-25 budget and tax levy is among the items on the city council’s Tuesday, Sept. 7, meeting agenda.
The regular city council meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Eden Prairie City Center, 8080 Mitchell Road.
The preliminary budget and levy for 2024 specifically need to have final approval from the council by the end of 2023. Proposed by city staff is a budget of about $60.3 million and a property-tax levy of just over $47.1 million.
The proposed budget for 2024 is up $2.9 million over 2023, a 5.1% increase. The tax levy of $47.1 represents a 5% increase over this year’s levy.
Based on current property-value information, the city is projecting that if the proposed numbers are adopted, a $536,400 home in Eden Prairie would see its city tax rise $61, to $1,589. That’s a 4% increase.
Because the city budgets on a two-year cycle, it has its eyes on a tentative 2025 budget of $62 million and a tax levy of $49.1 million.
