The Senate District 49 Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) precinct caucuses will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Eden Prairie High School’s East Commons, 17185 Valley View Road. Registration is set for 6:30 to 7 p.m.
Attendees will learn about this year’s candidates, select delegates for upcoming conventions, debate resolutions for the party platform, and elect new precinct chairs.
Many candidates for county, state, and federal office will be there to meet and speak with voters.
The Nov. 5 election will decide numerous leadership roles in Senate District 49. Voters in the district will elect members to the Eden Prairie School Board and Eden Prairie City Council, two Hennepin County commissioners, two representatives for the Minnesota House of Representatives, a U.S. Congress member, a U.S. senator, and the president of the United States. The Senate District 49 precinct caucus marks the initial grassroots phase in this electoral process.
People who live in Senate District 49 and will be 16 years old by Nov. 5 are welcome to participate. Others are welcome to observe.
Attendees are advised to bring their precinct number to the caucus to assist with registration.
