The Eden Prairie Optimist Club honored 10 students on Tuesday, Feb. 27, for their essays on “Optimism: How It Connects Us.”
Eden Prairie High School (EPHS) junior Banji Olofinboba was announced as the winner of the club’s 2024 Essay Contest.
This year’s winners are:
- First place: Banji Olofinboba, EPHS
- First place: Syon Shetty, EPHS
- First place: Shravanth Timma, Central Middle School
- Second place: Spandan Datta, EPHS
- Second place: Bami Olofinboba, EPHS
- Second place: Akshaya Ramanujam, Central Middle School
- Second place: Karin Johnson, Highlands Elementary, Edina
- Third place: Allison Schuessler, EPHS
- Third place: Yash Gupta, EPHS
- Third place: Tess Bakken, Central Middle School
Attracting over 40 entries from students under 19, the club commended all participants, particularly Olofinboba, who now advances to the Optimist district level for scholarship opportunities.
“Banji’s writing truly captured the essence of the theme, demonstrating exceptional skill and clarity. Congrats, Banji!,” said club member Ryan Affolter. “This contest is all about inspiring young voices, just like yours! We encourage everyone to keep writing, keep learning, and keep spreading optimism. Remember, your voice matters, and your perspective has the power to connect us all.”
Since its inception in 1978, the Optimist Club of Eden Prairie has dedicated itself to supporting youth through various programs and service projects, such as the annual Essay Contest.
