The City of Eden Prairie is hosting both a Spring Recycling Drop-off Event on Saturday, May 4, and curbside pickup of some specific items throughout the month of May.
The May 4 Recycling Drop-off Event will occur from 8 a.m. to noon at the Eden Prairie Yard Waste Site, 9811 Flying Cloud Drive. (The Yard Waste Site recently opened for the season, with regular hours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for Eden Prairie residents and businesses to dispose of yard waste material.)
Saturday’s Drop-off Event is open to Eden Prairie residents only and will require a valid ID for proof of residency. Items accepted at the event include appliances, tires, power equipment, household electronics, propane tanks, exercise equipment, furniture, mattresses, and box springs.
Pricing for disposal of items at the event ranges from $1 for items such as a computer mouse or ink/toner cartridges to $150 for sectional couches with reclining ends or hide-a-beds. Certain items, such as VCRs, cell phones, answering machines, or automotive lead-acid batteries, are free. Payment is by cash or check only. Checks should be made out to Certified Recycling.
Curbside recycling in May
Additionally, Eden Prairie is hosting curbside recycling from May 1-31, excluding Saturdays and Sundays. This option is limited to Eden Prairie residents only, who should call Certified Recycling at 952-894-1448 to schedule a pickup.
All items placed for curbside recycling must be free from hazardous substances; lightbulbs and batteries are not accepted. For the curbside recycling disposal, there is a $25 pickup fee in addition to the price per item.
Curbside recycling items should be placed as close to the curb as possible. If it is raining, items should be placed near a residence’s garage or covered with a tarp.
The city will also host a free Community Drop-off Day on Saturday, June 22, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hennepin Technical College, 13100 College View Drive, for disposal of items such as construction debris, artificial Christmas trees, bicycle donations and more. However, the June Community Drop-off Day will not accept some items that will be accepted at the May 4 Recycling Drop-off Event, such as appliances, electronics and tires.
