Cairan “Ike” Eigen, 85, of Eden Prairie, passed away on Saturday, May 18, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 8, 1938, in Comfrey, Minnesota, to Edward and Charlotte Eigen, Ike was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend.
Ike attended Mankato State University and was a proud member of the United States Air Force. He married the love of his life, Barb, 59 years ago, and the couple lived in Eden Prairie for 55 of those years. They raised three beautiful children who later blessed them with seven grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was an excellent tennis player and continued to play well into his 70s. Ike was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and rarely missed a game. He remained active for many years, taking daily walks around Round Lake with his wife and their yellow lab, Abby. He had a big heart and was kind to anyone fortunate enough to cross paths with him. He was giving and would rarely let you walk out the door without some type of gift. Ike was a family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Ike is survived by his loving wife, Barb; sons, John (Karie) Eigen of Meridian, Idaho, and Dan (Shelley) Eigen of Lake Shore, Minnesota; daughter, Molly (Chris) Estle of Chanhassen; and grandchildren, Josh, Sam, Alexandra (Max), Elizabeth (Jake) Franklin, Mac, William, and Lily. He is also survived by his brother, Chuck (Sherri), and sister, Marion Flemming.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 7, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., and luncheon at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Confidence Learning Center (Camp Confidence).
