Starting Tuesday, June 18, Hennepin County will begin improvement projects to enhance accessibility at five intersections along Pioneer Trail (County Road 1) in Eden Prairie.
The affected intersections are Trails End Road, Crestwood Terrace, Belvedere Drive, Cedar Forest Road, and Braxton Drive.
According to the county, construction is expected to last about a month, depending on the weather. Once completed, the intersections will meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, making them safer and more accessible for pedestrians, cyclists, and others.
Crews will start work on the south side of Pioneer Trail before moving to the north side. Traffic will be directed through the work zone one direction at a time using a pilot car, with flaggers present to manage flow. All lanes will generally reopen each evening.
Pedestrian and bike trails will remain open, though detours will be in place around work areas. The public is advised to be alert for signs and follow detour routes.
The project is being coordinated with the City of Eden Prairie. According to the county, nearby residents will always have access to their streets and neighborhoods throughout the construction period.
