A construction contract totaling about $1.45 million to build pickleball courts and other facilities at Miller Park will be up for a vote at the Tuesday, July 16, meeting of the Eden Prairie City Council. The contract is on the council’s consent agenda, which is a group of items approved with a single vote.
The new facility, lighted for evening play, will include one tennis court and one basketball court in addition to the eight pickleball courts. It replaces aging tennis and basketball courts at Miller Park and adds pickleball courts to the mix. A shaded seating area is also part of the project.
The outdoor courts were favored by the council last February over an indoor option because of cost. An indoor facility was estimated to cost $14 million. The outdoor facility was estimated at $2 million, at the time, but all seven bids came in below that estimate. The low bid came from Goodmanson Construction, Inc.
Tuesday’s meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Eden Prairie City Center, 8080 Mitchell Road. Meeting broadcasts can also be viewed online.
