Attention singers! A chance to showcase your vocal talents is just around the corner.
The 8th annual “Eden Prairie Sings! Amateur Vocal Competition” takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, at Purgatory Creek Park, 13001 Technology Drive, as part of the city’s Arts in the Park event.
Arts in the Park is a full-day affair, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and it offers a wide array of unique crafts, artwork, food, and art activities.
Eden Prairie Sings! is hosted by the Eden Prairie Optimist Club and is open to singers between the ages of 13 and 20 (as of Oct. 1, 2024).
“The Eden Prairie Sings Vocal Competition provides a platform for showcasing their musical talents and advance to the state finals to not only represent our hometown, but compete for significant cash and prizes,” said Ryan Affolter, Optimist Club member and chairman of Eden Prairie Sings. “These events give young people a wonderful opportunity to tap into their creativity and pursue possible scholarships at the same time.”
The top three vocalists will be awarded cash prizes ($200 for first, $150 for second, and $100 for third), with the first-place winner receiving an additional stipend to compete in the 2025 Minnesota Sings State Finals for a chance to win up to $30,000.
Interested participants can sign up by contacting the Eden Prairie Optimist Club through Facebook or by emailing Ryan Affolter at ryanaffolter.optimist@gmail.com.
