A massage therapist from Tigercave Massage & Foot Spa in Eden Prairie has been charged with third degree criminal sexual conduct for an incident that occurred at the business in May. This is an additional charge to two previous charges of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct involving two other incidents during the same month.
According to the criminal complaint for the most recent charge by the Hennepin County Attorney’s office, John Vue, 28, of Minneapolis allegedly penetrated a victim with his finger multiple times during a massage session on May 16.
The third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge is a felony, carrying a maximum sentence of 15 years and/or a fine between $10,000 and $30,000.
The criminal complaint states that the alleged victim contacted the Eden Prairie Police Department after a friend saw the department’s Facebook post regarding previous charges against Vue. The Eden Prairie Police Department had encouraged any other potential victims of similar incidents at Tigercave Massage & Foot Spa, 12200 Middleset Road, to report by calling 952-949-6200. In the June 26 post, EPPD promised to aggressively investigate each case.
In a press release issued in June, when the previous charges were filed, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office praised “victims’ courage in coming forward” and stated that the office’s Victim and Witness Services division provides trauma-informed support and a dedicated staff member to guide them through the court process.
At an August 15 court hearing held on the previous counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, Vue entered a plea of not guilty. Additional court hearings are scheduled for Oct. 3 and Dec. 2. According to the criminal complaints filed in Hennepin County District Court in association with those charges, Vue allegedly manipulated a victim’s underwear and touched her inappropriately during an individual massage session on May 14. In a separate incident on May 16, Vue reportedly massaged another victim’s bare breasts without her consent during a couples massage. Each fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct charge is a felony, carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years and/or a fine between $6,000 and $20,000.
