Activities moved indoors this year due to rain as the Eden Prairie High School football team and cheerleaders paid their annual visit to The Waters of Eden Prairie senior living community. Although the rain put a damper on the touch football tradition of previous years, the team’s visit was not without friendly competition.
Football players challenged The Waters residents in bowling through the Nintendo Wii video game console, as well as games of cornhole. Shuffleboard, pushups, and a hot dog eating contest also took place within the walls of The Waters on Friday, Aug. 16. The Waters’ staff won the 2024 hot dog eating contest, maintaining their unbeaten streak against the Eagles football players.
This year marked the 15th visit of Coach Mike Grant’s Eagles football team to The Waters. In addition to the games, the players and cheerleaders spend time speaking with the residents on a variety of topics.
Although the football players missed out on playing against The Waters staff this year due to rain, the team is currently in practice for the 2024 season and will host a pre-season controlled scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, with free admission to Aerie Stadium at Eden Prairie High School. The Eagles’ first regular season game this year is on the road at Buffalo on Thursday, Aug. 29.
