Eden Prairie is home to a new boutique specializing in women’s clothing from India. Owned and operated by Vaishali Chhablani, Vish Couture opened this past winter.
Chhablani runs the business out of her home, with a dedicated room for the boutique.
About half of the inventory is off-the-rack, ready-to-wear clothing, while the other half consists of pre-orders that are custom-made according to a customer’s specific measurements.
Vish Couture sells everyday wear, semi-party outfits, and special occasion attire, along with a variety of earrings, necklaces, and bangles.
Everyday wear starts at $25, semi-party outfits start at $65, and party/special occasion attire starts at $85. Although Chhablani mostly sells women’s clothing, she can also pre-order clothing for men and children.
Family history in the clothing business
Chhablani comes from a family with deep roots in the garment industry. Her grandfather started a clothing store in India, and her father has continued the business. She has always had an interest in fashion.
After working in the IT industry, Chhablani decided to start Vish Couture. She works with her father’s business, S.K. Clothes Store, which is located in India and sources clothing from all over the country. Because her father is her wholesaler, she says, “I get the best colors, best pieces, best articles, and that gives me the opportunity to maintain a huge variety.”
Chhablani says her favorite part of the business is buying the outfits and styling people. She wants them to look good and feel good.
Chhablani sees clients by appointment. “I am very accommodating,” she says. “When people ask me if they can come in, I try to accommodate them on the same day.”
Vish Couture currently has collections for the upcoming Hindu festivals of Ganesh Chaturthi, Navaratri, Karwa Chauth, and Diwali.
People can call or text Chhablani at (612) 222-1261 or follow Vish Couture on Instagram and direct message her. She also announces new offerings and deals through her “Vish Couture” community on WhatsApp.
