Nestled in the Prairie Center strip mall and conveniently located near the SouthWest Transit Station, Brick & Bourbon is an easily accessible gem in Eden Prairie.
Since opening in 2017, this restaurant has been known for its cozy, rustic charm with its inviting brick-and-wood décor. The outdoor patio adds a pleasant touch, making it a great spot for al fresco dining. Inside, several large TV screens show sports, adding to the lively atmosphere. The Little League championship was on during our visit, which is always a favorite of mine.
We were particularly impressed with the exceptional service. The staff was polite and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed without being overbearing. The general manager even did a quick walk-by to check in and make sure we were happy but didn’t linger, which I appreciated – no one wants to have a conversation while mid-bite!
The menu features a range of comforting classics with creative twists. We kicked off our meal with the shareable Buffalo Brussels sprouts, which were the highlight of our visit. Crispy, tangy and packed with flavor, they truly stood out and showcased the restaurant’s flair for inventive comfort food.
For the main course, we tried the Bourbon Burger, a juicy patty topped with candied bacon, smoked gouda cheese, whiskey BBQ sauce and Tabasco onion straws, all nestled in a fresh-baked pub bun. While it sounded amazing, it didn’t quite live up to its description. The flavors were decent, but the burger didn’t particularly shine, and the upgrade to Parmesan fries didn’t deliver the extra indulgence we hoped for. In retrospect, the regular fries might have been a better choice.
Unfortunately, the French Onion Crock soup, usually a comfort food staple, also missed the mark. Known for its rich, savory broth and cheesy topping, this version was under-seasoned and lacked the depth of flavor that typically makes it a classic favorite.
Overall, while Brick & Bourbon has a lot going for it with its cozy atmosphere, exceptional service and creative menu, there’s room for improvement in some of the dishes. That said, I’m eager to try it again, next time with my eye on the beef stroganoff or the Anytime Monte: piles of shaved country smoked ham and peppered turkey, pecan-smoked bacon and fontina cheese tucked between thick slices of savory French toast. It’s served with Montamore hash browns, creamy beer cheese sauce and jalapeño strawberry jam. Add an egg for just 99 cents!
