The Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce announces its endorsements of Stacy Bettison for the Minnesota House seat in 49A and Wendi Russo for Minnesota House seat 49B.
Over the past few weeks, the Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce has reviewed its business questionnaire sent to the candidates, held its candidate forum (the videos can be found online at epchamber.org and on YouTube) and met with candidates interested in gaining the chamber’s pro-business endorsement. Based on the candidates’ answers to the business questions, we are very pleased to support Stacy Bettison and Wendi Russo in this year’s election.
Some of the chamber’s top concerns are Minnesota being the highest business tax state in the nation, recently passed new taxes and regulations on businesses and especially the impact on small businesses, plus future workforce skills and the decline of our education ranking nationally.
Additionally, Minnesota ranks near the bottom for GDP growth (45th), job growth (39th) and net domestic migration (43rd). The chamber’s top priorities are to address the issues of costs on businesses in Minnesota, make our state more competitive compared to other states, make changes to current regulations and taxes impacting small businesses, and address our lagging GDP.
The chamber understands many Eden Prairie voters do not have the bandwidth to learn all the candidates’ positions on important issues. Therefore, we endorse Bettison and Russo for their support of growing our economy and supporting the business community and the tens of thousands of people employed locally.
Pat MulQueeny, president, Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce
