I live in Minnesota House District 49B. I am supporting incumbent Carlie Kotyza-Witthun for reelection as our House Representative. Her opponent is someone named Wendi Russo. A former pageant queen and seller of online jewelry, she seems to want to pass herself off as a moderate, if not outright trying to fool Democrats into voting for her.
The following is directly from her campaign website:
“Wendi Russo will protect women’s rights to reproductive health care, and believes abortions should be safe and legal, with reasonable limits in the third trimester that do not interfere with the life or health of the mother. Wendi also supports expanding access and restoring funding to pro-life organizations, and teen and crisis pregnancy centers, as well as championing options that support families, adoption and affordable child care. In contrast, Eden Prairie’s current State Representative authored the PRO Act which allows for abortion up until the moment of birth, opposing reasonable limits and funding for alternative options that support young mothers.”
She is conning people into thinking she supports reproductive rights, when, in reality, she is just putting out more lies about “abortion up to the moment of birth.” Do you know how many third trimester abortions happen nationwide, much less in Minnesota? They are virtually non-existent. Do you know what a crisis pregnancy center is? It is not a legitimate healthcare facility giving women and girls all their options in the event of an unwanted pregnancy. These places notoriously try to guilt and shame women into continuing a pregnancy, even if it is not in their best interest or what they wish. Russo is talking out of both sides of her mouth, and you simply cannot have it both ways. Especially not on an issue like this!
If you are a woman, or care for the women in your life, please vote for Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn. At least she is honest about what she proposes for the future!
Lori Johnson, Eden Prairie
