Veridian Credit Union will more than double its Giving Tuesday donations this year for the annual “Veridian Gives Back for Giving Tuesday” campaign, increasing the total from $35,000 to $90,000 to commemorate its 90th anniversary.
The public is invited to nominate a favorite nonprofit organization through Nov. 10 for a chance to be one of 16 recipient organizations.
Veridian will randomly draw from those nominated to award $5,000 each to three eligible nonprofit organizations in each of its five market areas, including the Twin Cities area and regions in Iowa and Nebraska, such as Des Moines, the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor, Waterloo/Cedar Falls, and Omaha/Council Bluffs. An additional nonprofit organization from any of these market areas will also be drawn to receive $15,000. Recipients will be announced on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3.
“Veridian was founded 90 years ago on the need to support our communities and the people in them,” said Veridian President and CEO Renee Christoffer. “It’s appropriate for our anniversary celebrations to reflect those values that still guide us today.”
To be eligible, nonprofit organizations must address one of Veridian’s five funding priorities: affordable housing, basic human needs, diversity, equity and inclusion, employment readiness, and financial literacy. To ensure equal opportunity for large and small organizations, each nominated organization will receive one entry for the drawing, regardless of the number of nominations. Nominations are accepted and other details are available at veridiancu.org/GivingTuesday.
