This year’s 18th annual Dance with Courage fundraiser hosted by Dance Arts Centre raised over $23,800 for True Friends, surpassing the original goal of $20,000. True Friends is a nonprofit organization providing camps and other experiences that enhance independence and self-esteem for nearly 4,000 children and adults with disabilities annually. Camp Eden Wood in Eden Prairie is one of the locations where the camps are offered.
Within the annual fundraiser, dancers compete with their teams to raise funds for True Friends. Throughout the week, there are daily competitions and prizes donated by local businesses. The Fusion competition team landed on top of the team competition, earning a private movie screening. The Starlight team and Starburst team finished second and third, respectively. Organizations like Midwest Starz, Elevated Therapy Solutions, the Winegarden Group, and the Line Up contributed gold sponsorships to the event.
In the history of the Dance with Courage tradition, Dance Arts Centre has raised over $380,000 to support True Friends.
