On an unseasonably warm Saturday, Dec. 7, the 15th annual Eden Prairie Lioness Lions Club Art & Craft Fair transformed Grace Church into a vibrant showcase of local creativity.
With more than 100 booths highlighting talent from the Twin Cities, the fair was bustling with energy, creativity and a true sense of community.
A vibrant atmosphere
I arrived about 10 a.m. and found the fair in full swing. The venue was lively, with nearly 1,000 attendees chatting with vendors, admiring the handcrafted wares and enjoying the warm, festive ambiance. Adding to the welcoming atmosphere, the church’s café, The Divine Grind, was open throughout the event, providing coffee, treats and a cozy spot to recharge. The buzz in the air was infectious as visitors explored, engaged and supported local artists.
Diverse talent on display
The talent showcased was truly remarkable. From intricately designed jewelry to stunning home décor, there was something for everyone. As I made my way through the booths, I was captivated by the incredible craftsmanship and creativity on display. The attention to detail in every piece was awe-inspiring, and the vendors’ passion for their work was evident in every conversation.
Spotlight on local authors
The fair wasn’t just about crafts – many talented authors were also present to share their work.
Among them was Mary Perrine, an award-winning Minnesota author with a remarkable history. Growing up in north-central Minnesota, Mary began writing at the age of 4, inspired by her mother’s advice to “watch people and tell their stories – just make them bigger.”
After 36 years of teaching, she transitioned into her dream career as a full-time writer. With six books and numerous awards, Mary’s novels have become reader favorites. To learn more about Mary and her storytelling, visit Mary Perrine, Author.
Fun and whimsy at Ames Crafts and Woods
While the fair highlighted literary talent, it also brought plenty of creativity and humor to the forefront. Another delightful stop was Ames Crafts and Woods, where I couldn’t resist picking up a fun little treat for myself. A bag of marshmallows humorously labeled as “snowman poop” caught my eye – and at only $1, it was a deal I couldn’t pass up! The booth was filled with quirky, clever and creative items.
Ames Crafts and Woods also offers custom orders, making it a great place to shop for unique and personalized gifts. Discover more of their fun creations here: Ames Crafts and Woods on Facebook.
A special discovery: Modern Mandala Designs
Just as I was about to leave, a shimmering display from Modern Mandala Designs caught my eye. Nearby, a proud mother and her smiling daughter stood ready to share their story. The mother creates stunning, intricate mandalas, while the daughter brings them to life by naming each one.
Their designs are perfect for adding a touch of beauty and mindfulness to any space, and they even offer custom creations for those looking for something truly personal. This booth was a standout for its artistry and heartfelt connection. Discover more of their gorgeous work here: Modern Mandala Designs on Etsy.
Supporting a greater cause
What makes this event even more special is its purpose. Proceeds from the fair directly support local and statewide charitable organizations, including PROP, Onward Eden Prairie, Cornerstone and Can Do Canines. By attending the fair, visitors not only support small businesses and artists but also contribute to meaningful causes within the community.
