Cynthia Pauline (DeBooy) Rodman entered eternal rest at home on Dec. 19, 2024, at the age of 76 after experiencing a series of strokes.
Cindy was born on March 12, 1948, in Magnolia, Minnesota. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Donna (Johnson) DeBooy, as well as her father’s second wife, Pearl (Van Westen) DeBooy.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Chuck, of 55-plus years; daughter Paula Charchenko and her husband, Brian, along with grandchildren Nikolai, Briar, Erik, and Ryker Charchenko of Victoria; son Tom Rodman with grandson Austin Krebsbach and his mother, Leslie Krebsbach, of Eden Prairie; and Cindy’s younger sister, Bonnie Jo Kochel, of Luverne, Minnesota, her son Troy Kochel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and son Tony Kochel and his wife, Michele, of Madison, Wisconsin. She is also remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless dear lifelong friends.
Cindy met Chuck in December 1964 during their junior year of high school at a dance at the Armory in Luverne. Chuck’s good friend Greg Reimer bet him a quarter that he would not ask Cindy to dance. Chuck would attest that it was the best 25¢ bet he ever made. They dated through high school and attended both junior and senior proms together.
Cindy graduated from Magnolia High School in 1966 and then Lakeland Medical Dental Academy in Minneapolis in 1968. She worked in dentist offices as a dental assistant and also taught dental assisting at Lakeland Academy. Cindy and Chuck married on July 12, 1969.
Cindy enjoyed dental assisting but loved being at home with her family. She acquired a mailing service business from a friend, allowing her to work in the comfort of their Eden Prairie home while raising their children.
Cindy and Chuck are blessed with MANY lifelong friends that they made while growing up in Rock County, during high school and also college days and throughout the years. Cindy loved traveling with their wonderful friends, relaxing on a beach, or exploring new cities.
Cindy had a special knack for entertaining and making everyone feel warm and welcome in their home. She loved to cook and bake, especially for and with her family. One of her favorite days of the year was Christmas Cookie Baking Day with her only granddaughter, Briar.
Cindy adored her children and, most of all, her grandchildren. Her gift was making everyone feel special and loved on birthdays and holidays. Even until her last breath, she was thinking of creative gift ideas to give her family for Christmas. Cindy said her family was her greatest accomplishment, and we agree!
A celebration of life will be held Monday, Dec. 30, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 13600 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie. Visitation is at 10 a.m., the funeral at 11:30 a.m., and lunch at 12:30 p.m.
A livestream of the funeral will be available online.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Andrew Lutheran Church Spirit-In-The-Pines Church Camp scholarship fund in Cindy’s name.
