An Eden Prairie man faces a gross misdemeanor charge of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl at a high school football game in Edina, according to a criminal complaint filed Nov. 6 in Hennepin County District Court.
Xavier Thomas Koskinen, 20, is alleged to have contacted the girl, a high school freshman, via Snapchat on Sept. 4, where he falsely claimed to be a 16-year-old junior. The complaint states Koskinen arranged to meet the girl at the Edina High School football game on Sept. 6. During halftime, Koskinen allegedly led the girl and her friend to a nearby playground, where he kissed the girl, grabbed her buttocks, and restrained her when she tried to leave.
The girl’s friend corroborated her account, telling police she overheard the victim repeatedly asking Koskinen to let her go. Investigators say Koskinen initially told police he met the girl randomly at the game but later admitted to contacting her on Snapchat. He also claimed he believed she was 16 or 17. Police determined Koskinen was 19 at the time of the alleged incident.
If convicted of the gross misdemeanor charge, Koskinen could face up to 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine. Court records show he posted a $20,000 bond in November. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 15 in Hennepin County District Court.
