Architect Katie Becker of Eden Prairie recently earned the Accredited Learning Environments Planner (ALEP) designation, a mark of excellence recognizing the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a competent educational facility planner. The ALEP credential is designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance, and recognize those in the educational environment industry who demonstrate essential knowledge in educational facility planning.
Becker is based in JLG Architects‘ Minneapolis office and has been with the firm for over 11 years. She is also a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and holds National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Associate certificates.
Speaking of the ALEP certification, Becker stated, “This designation reaffirms my commitment to the belief that the learning environments we create together now will shape the future of our next generation. My career has been dedicated to improving learning environments and providing opportunities for students and communities to thrive. I am truly honored to hold this distinction alongside my peers in the organization.”
The Association for Learning Environments is the creator of the ALEP credential. After meeting eligibility requirements and submitting an application, ALEP candidates must pass a rigorous interview process. Once a candidate has earned the credential, they must maintain it by fulfilling certification renewal requirements every three years, in addition to maintaining minimum continuing education units each year.
