Eden Prairie High School’s boys swim and dive team secured a victory in an away meet against Hopkins High School on Friday, Jan. 24.
The final scores were varsity, 104-78, and junior varsity, 90-56.
Caleb Singewald, one of the team’s senior captains, said he was happy with how the meet went. “Everyone swam really well and a lot of people got best times,” he said.
Singewald noted that the team has been working hard both in practice and in the weight room. “It’s been really fun because we are approaching our finals meet, so the whole team is pumped for it,” he said.
Post-meet, head coach Sam Kendall gave special recognition to the team captains. “With the season winding down, I think it’s best to shout out the leaders of this group,” he said. “The captains (Zack McBeth, Eshaan Salunke, Vincent Schulze, Caleb Singewald, and Huijae Kim) have more than set the tone at all our meets and have proven why they were the right choice to take the mantle at the end of the last season.”
Kendall also called out strong performances from the team’s divers. “I also would like to highlight the two divers on the team,” he said. “Sawyer Kevan and Gus Jacobson have been great all year, and at Hopkins they both dove lifetime bests.”
He added, “I’m excited to see what (dive coach) Gabbie (Poole) and these boys have cooked up at the end of the season.”
The team’s final two dual meets of the season will be at home in the Eden Prairie Aquatic Center. The Eagles will face the Edina Hornets at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, and the Buffalo Bison at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7.
