Eden Prairie High School (EPHS) will hold its Class of 2025 graduation on Wednesday, June 4, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, school officials announced Feb. 4 after canceling the original date and surveying students, families and staff.
The district messaged families a few days earlier to rescind the original June 7 date. That date conflicted with Eid al-Adha, a major Muslim holiday, prompting many community members to protest and request a new date.
EPHS Principal Jaysen Anderson and EP Online Principal Nick Kremer said in a joint message that an overwhelming majority of surveyed students, staff and families preferred holding the ceremony on June 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium, its original location.
“This choice was particularly preferred by students, chosen by 84% of seniors — which we believe will support our primary goal of a ceremony where all of our students can celebrate together,” Anderson and Kramer wrote on the senior class web page. “We’re excited to see such strong support for a new venue that is sure to provide an exceptional experience.”
With the graduation ceremony on June 4, the last day of school for seniors will be Tuesday, June 3.
Anderson and Kremer said school leaders now plan to work with students, staff and families to review the program structure – including determining the exact time of the event – to define and communicate ceremony expectations and to develop a graduation toolkit for future planning.
“Thanks for your patience and support in this process,” the principals said. “We’re looking forward to another great semester that will culminate with an amazing celebration for the Class of 2025.”
