As national politics holds the spotlight, don’t forget to notice the hard work of our local state legislators. During this time, where people are feeling ignored and underrepresented in politics, I want to shine a light on local Senate District 49 Sen.(Steve) Cwodzinski as a legislator who is actively listening to constituents.
On May 2, 2024, EPLN published a letter to the editor titled, “Writer suggests plant-based meals next on EP schools’ sustainability journey.” This month, Sen. Cwodzinski was also given a packet containing 22 handwritten postcards from constituents asking him to support plant-based school meal options.
This month, during the Minnesota Senate Education Finance Committee on Free School Meal Update, Sen. Cwodzinski spoke up for plant-based students by asking the Minnesota Department of Education about this issue. The Minnesota Department of Education verified that, yes, schools CAN offer plant-based meal options. With this important knowledge, the work continues to try to get access to plant-based meal options in Minnesota schools.
Please join me in expressing our sincere gratitude for Sen. Cwodzinski. Thank him for diligently representing his constituents at the Minnesota Capitol.
