Jie Luo of Eden Prairie has been named to the board of directors of the Minnesota Academy of Science (MAS). Luo is an engineer at Cummins Power Generation and holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan. He has coached teams participating in MAS’ Science Bowl program.

“I look forward to collaborating with the team to expand access to high-quality STEM education, foster innovation, and create opportunities for all members of our community,” Luo said in a press release.
Founded in 1873, MAS is a statewide 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission of connecting Minnesotans of all backgrounds with resources and opportunities to engage in STEM learning, research, and communication, and to recognize excellence in these areas. MAS’ programs include team competitions, STEM project showcases, and mentoring and enrichment programs that promote STEM inquiry and research.
