Eleven students from Eden Prairie High School, as well as their instructor, received 2025 Aspirations in Computing (AiC) awards from the National Center for Women in Technology (NCWIT).
Jessica Brent, a computer science and math teacher at Eden Prairie High School and EP Online, received the 2025 NCWIT AiC Educator Award for Minnesota. Student honorees included Cecelia Raterno, national honorable mention and Minnesota winner, and additional Minnesota winners Jia Chenchlani, Emily Oberleitner and Devanshu Shah. Chenchlani and Shah are juniors, while Oberleitner is a senior.
EPHS students receiving Minnesota honorable mention recognition included senior Kayna Aneja, freshman Brooke-Lynn Byfield, senior Ziwei Chen and senior Ishika Nanavati, while those receiving Minnesota rising star recognition included freshman Ananya Goli, senior Melody Li and junior Anisha Surily.
The NCWIT Aspirations in Computing (AiC) High School Awards recognize students in grades 9 through 12 for computing-related achievements and interests. Factors in choosing award recipients include computing experience, related activities and leadership experience. The Educator Award recognizes those who work inside and/or outside of classroom spaces to increase participation in computing among students in grades 9 through 12.
An award ceremony for top-tier honorees, including students selected as national winners, national honorable mentions, state winners and state honorable mentions, will be held April 10, with a May 3 special event date for rising star honorees.
