Destination Mars and Robotics Scout ‘Bots, Join the Conversation: Podcasting 101, and Web Design & Virtual Reality Coding are among the summer enrichment courses offered through West Suburban Summer School (WSSS).
WSSS offers a variety of creative, themed summer classes across multiple disciplines for students entering grades 2-12 in the fall. The program serves students with a strong interest or passion for a topic who are comfortable learning at a faster pace or exploring subjects in depth.
Classes are fee-based and designed to challenge the unique abilities of talented students. Most classes are limited to 16 students. Students are invited to participate because of their recognized talents and academic strengths.

Instructors prepare feedback for students, which is sent to families, but no grades are given. WSSS does not give academic credit for courses, but course information will be provided to those who wish to request credit from their home schools.
Interested families should reach out to WSSS to receive an invitation with a registration code, which is needed to create a WSSS account and request classes.
While the program is designed to serve students whose schools are part of Intermediate District 287 – including Eden Prairie and several other area public school districts – member district families pay base fees of $295 per course. WSSS also is open to students from non-member districts for a slightly higher base fee of $335 per course.
The WSSS course catalog is available now on the WSSS website. The course request lottery period is open until Feb. 21, but registration for available classes continues through the spring and summer. Families may also request to be added to a waiting list for any classes that are full.
