Spring performance season is here, and Eden Prairie High School (EPHS) Drama is ready to deliver with entertaining comedy, “The Nerd,” by Larry Shue.
The story features a group of friends trying to save Willum Cubbert from the man who once saved him. Rick Steadman had saved Willum’s life in Vietnam years earlier, but when Rick shows up at Willum’s house, his complete obliviousness to social cues – and his tambourine playing – creates chaos. When it appears that Rick is settling in to stay, Willum and his friends devise a plot to make Rick anxious to get away.
Laurie Nebeker, the show’s director and an EPHS English and drama teacher, said Eden Prairie’s production features seven performers in a creative ensemble.
“The play is set in the early 1980s, and the student tech crew has been hard at work creating a realistic interior set with lots of props, including food that ends up in some unexpected places,” she said. “Audiences will enjoy the show’s fast-paced comedy as the efforts to get rid of Rick get more and more outrageous. Larry Shue’s script also features some satisfying twists at the end.”
Shows are Thursday, April 24; Friday, April 25; and Saturday, April 26, at 7 p.m. in the EPHS Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available at GoFan.co. Adult admission is $7, and students and senior citizens are $5.
