The Southwest Light Rail Transit project anticipates the full overnight closure of Interstate Highway 494 near Flying Cloud Drive on Thursday, April 8 from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM on Friday, April 9. A SWLRT / Met Council update says that crews will be completing bridge milling and decking work. Eastbound 494 drivers should detour via Highway 212 and Highway 62 to Highway 169. Westbound 494 drivers should take Highway 169 to Highway 62 or Highway 212 for access to local streets.
Other SWLRT construction alerts for Eden Prairie
√ The I-494 off-ramp to Flying Cloud Drive has closed for the 2021 construction season. The I-494 on-ramp from Flying Cloud Drive is expected to remain closed through the summer.
√ Traffic is reduced to one lane in both directions on Flying Cloud Drive between Town Center Place to Valley View Road through the summer.
√ Intersections from Flying Cloud Drive to Technology Drive and Viking Drive will be subject to intermittent, short-term lane reductions. Left turns in and out of Technology Drive at the Flying Cloud Drive intersection are prohibited through the summer.
√ Expect lane closures on Prairie Center Drive between the eastbound Highway 5 off-ramp and Singletree Lane to accommodate LRT bridge deck work through to Friday April 9.
√ Full closure of West 70th Street in the Golden Triangle will begin this month and last through the fall. Access between Flying Cloud Drive and Shady Oak Road will be interrupted. Traffic detours to local businesses will be installed seven days before the start date.
In Minnetonka
√ Retaining wall work is ongoing near Yellow and Red Circle Drives north of Bren Road West to Smetana Road.
√ Opus Station construction continues to advance.
√ Smetana Road from Feltl Road to Nolan Drive remains closed. A temporary bypass is in place east of the intersection of Smetana and Feltl Roads to accommodate local traffic in and out of Opus Park.
