Looking for some fall fun for the whole family?
With Halloween right around the corner, here are seven possibilities (in no specific order) where the pumpkins, corn mazes and apples are plentiful in or within about 30 minutes of Eden Prairie.
Marshall’s Farm Market
Location: Eden Prairie, on the northwest corner of Eden Prairie Road and Pioneer Trail.
What to expect: More than 50 varieties of pumpkins and gourds as well as mums, corn stalks, Halloween/harvest décor, and local apples with caramel dipping sauce.
A good choice for … a quick drive for family-friendly fall activities in October. Includes a corn maze, haunted house, jumpin’ pumpkin and a coffin selfie station.
Degler Farm
Location: 10-minute drive. In Chanhassen at the intersection of Lyman Boulevard and Audubon Road.
What to expect: Pumpkins, hay rides, corn maze, corn pit, air cannon and other activities.
A good choice for … relaxing fall fun and the perfect pumpkin.
Sever’s Fall Festival
Location: 20-minute drive to the festival at 150th Street West in Shakopee.
What to expect: Large festival grounds with a corn maze, extreme corn pit, jumping pillow, petting zoo, kiddie train and more. Additional attractions (for an additional cost) include the giant slide, pumpkin blasters, and hay and pony rides.
A good choice for … a lively fall festival with many activities and food and beverage choices. Pumpkin patches to pick your own pumpkin from the field.
Minnetonka Orchard
Location: 30-minute drive. Just northwest of Lake Minnetonka near Burl Oaks Golf Club in Minnetrista.
What to expect: U-pick apples, pumpkins, hay rides, “playgrounds,” scavenger hunt, apple cider donuts, brats, and other kid’s activities. MEA is free admission. There is a $10 admission cost on the weekends.
A good choice for … lots of kid’s activities and U-pick apples. Visit during weekday U-pick hours for a more low-key experience.
LuceLine Orchard
Location: It is technically a little over a 30-minute drive, a few miles southwest of Watertown at 2755 Rose Ave.
What to expect: Pre-picked apples, pumpkins, fully stocked apple store and gift shop, grill and pub. Many activities include a 30-acre corn maze, apple slingers, farm animals, a kiddie train, and more. Food trucks and ice cream are only open on weekends and MEA.
A good choice for … many activities for children. Come out to see Harry, the black nose Valais sheep, get sheered at 1 p.m. on Oct. 21.
Ferguson’s Minnesota Harvest
Location: 30-35 minute drive. South on Highway 169 near Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store in Jordan. For hours, visit its Facebook page.
What to expect: U-pick apples, pre-picked pumpkins, hayrack rides, farm animals, hard cider, food & beverages, apple cider donuts
A good choice for … lots of kid’s activities, U-pick apples and hard cider.
The AppleHouse at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
Location: 15-minute drive. West of Chanhassen at the intersection of Highway 5 and Rolling Acres Road, about a mile west from the main Arboretum grounds.
What to expect: A farm store with pre-picked apples, a huge variety of classic and unique specialty pumpkins, squash and gourds, baked goods and gifts. North Star Apple Cider Donuts.
A good choice for … a quick in-and-out with high-quality apple and pumpkin products.
