After shutting out Elk River 6-0 Thursday night at the Edina Holiday Classic, the Eden Prairie Eagles had a repeat performance, holding Grand Rapids scoreless with a 2-0 victory in tourney play at Braemar Arena Friday night.
Cole Saterdalen broke a scoreless deadlock at 1:42 of the third period. The junior forward deflected Tommy Moen’s shot from the point past Grand Rapids goalie Myles Gunderson. The goal would prove to be the game-winner.
At 6:06 of the third period, junior defenseman Tate Bloch’s shot from the point was deflected and trickled past Gunderson, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles have been getting exceptional play from their defense and held Grand Rapids to just 18 shots, allowing only one shot in the third period.
Junior goaltender Isaiah Paulnock posted his second straight shutout as the Eagles picked up their third win of the season.
Tournament play continues Saturday night when the Eagles take on Edina. Puck drop is 8:30 p.m. at Braemar Arena.
