An Eden Prairie man’s death has been ruled an accidental freshwater drowning with complicating multiple blunt force injuries due to a motor vehicle collision, according to a Thursday press release from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office.
On Monday, April 24, at about 11:20 a.m., Kenneth John Blumberg, 71, was driving his 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan on Highway 212 and Great Plains Boulevard in Chanhassen when he ran a red light and collided with a 2019 Honda CR-V driven by a 52-year-old Norwood Young America woman traveling north on County Road 101.
The impact caused Blumberg’s vehicle to veer off the road and into a holding pond, where it was submerged in the water.
Emergency responders transported Blumberg to the University of Minnesota Fairview East Bank Hospital in Minneapolis, where he died at 11:30 p.m. on April 24.
