Eden Prairie police responded to a dog bite incident involving three people at about 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16. The incident occurred at the top of the exit ramp from westbound Interstate 494 to Flying Cloud Drive.
According to a city news release on Thursday, a vehicle was stopped at the red light where an adult man and woman were panhandling with a 2-year-old child. The man approached the vehicle on the roadway, which caused the three dogs in the vehicle to bark. As the man continued to approach, one of the dogs reportedly jumped from the vehicle’s window and chased and bit the three individuals. The other two dogs got out of the vehicle when the owner opened the door to retrieve the first dog.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The man and child went to the hospital on their own with non-life-threatening injuries.
The dog owners are cooperating with the police. As this is an active investigation, the news release stated that no further information is available.
