Will Foster has racked up plenty of honors during his stint as an athlete at Eden Prairie High School.
However, he recently reached the height of the boys’ lacrosse world. The Eagle star lacrosse player was named the 2021 Mr. Lacrosse award winner after a stellar season and exemplary career in high school athletics.
The announcement of the award came on July 22 thanks to the Minnesota All Sports Alliance (MASA). He was one of seven finalists for the award.
MASA, formerly the Minnesota Minutemen, has existed since 1954 to do good through sports. The award has been handing out Mr. and Ms. awards through different high school sports in Minnesota, starting with boys’ hockey, for 37 years now.
Awards, such as Mr. Lacrosse, are given out to the top senior lacrosse player in the state.
Foster is the second consecutive EP player to receive the award. Quentin Matsui won Mr. Lacrosse in 2019 and now plays for the University of Virginia. There was no Mr. Lacrosse awarded in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Foster, who is set to play lacrosse at Marquette University, dazzled the lacrosse world with 51 goals and 33 assists this past season.
The 84-point performance got the Eagles to the Section 2 semifinals where they fell prey to Chanhassen in overtime.
Foster moves on from EPHS to Marquette, a Milwaukee-based program looking to make it out of the first round of the NCAA Tournament since the program’s first season of Div. I action in 2013.
