Eden Prairie students will move temporarily to distance learning beginning Nov. 23 for grades 7-12 and Dec. 1 for grades K-6, according to an email sent to parents Tuesday, Nov. 10 by the EP school district. The district tentatively plans to return to current schedules Jan. 4, 2021.
The move comes as Eden Prairie’s 14-day COVID-19 case rate exceeded 30 cases per 10,000 residents as of November 2, according to Hennepin County’s COVID-19 Public Dashboard.
“The rapid statewide increase in COVID-19 is beginning to show up locally,” the EP school district message said. “Although our district’s safety and mitigation strategies have been effective, the projected trend is that case rates are growing significantly.”
Grades 7-12: All students
Hybrid learning for grades 7-12 ends temporarily Nov. 19. Distance learning for those students begins Nov. 23. There will be no school for those students Nov. 20 and Nov. 25 to allow teachers time to plan for distance learning. The Eden Prairie High School Activities Office will announce any changes to winter activities and athletics, the EP school district message said.
Grades K-6: In-person and hybrid learning models
In-person and hybrid learning for grades K-6 ends temporarily after Nov. 24. Monday, Nov. 23 becomes an “A” cohort day and those students will not attend in person on Nov. 24. Tuesday, Nov. 24 is a “B” cohort day.
There will be no school for K-6 students Nov. 25 and Nov. 30 for teacher planning. Dec. 1 is the first day of distance learning for grades K-6.
EP Online K-6
The transfer to distance learning does not affect elementary EP Online students. Those students will attend school on Nov. 20, 25 and 30.
TASSEL
Students in the TASSEL program will follow the schedule for grades K-6 in-person/hybrid learning, according to the EP school district message.
The district tentatively plans to return for in-person learning for grades K-1 and hybrid learning for grades 2-12 on Jan. 4, 2021, the EP school district message said. The district will continue to monitor case rate data to evaluate the feasibility of the Jan. 4 return, it said.
