Jess Diaz Lawson, who has served as the instructional excellence coordinator at Eagle Heights Spanish Immersion since 2022, has been selected as Prairie View Elementary’s new associate principal.
Lawson will succeed Brett Lobben, who is set to become the first principal of Lakeville Area Schools’ newly constructed Highview Elementary. Lawson’s first day in this role will be Feb. 26.
“In the interview process, Ms. Lawson’s commitment to collaboration and forming strong relationships really stood out to me,” said Quennel Cooper, Prairie View’s principal.
“She is deeply dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment that empowers every student to thrive academically and personally, and I know she will help each and every student here at Prairie View to be successful,” Cooper continued. “I’m confident she is the right person to complete our leadership team as we look toward the future.”
Diaz Lawson began her career in St. Paul, where she served as a kindergarten teacher, WINN (What I Need Now and Next) teacher, and learning lead. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Grand Valley State University and a master’s degree in learning design and technology from St. Mary’s University. Her educational leadership license is from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
