A 19-year-old Eden Prairie man, Hunter Scott Nesbitt, faces charges including felony assault on a peace officer and emergency medical personnel after a Feb. 11 incident, according to a Hennepin County District Court complaint.

Nesbitt is charged with one count of fourth-degree felony assault for causing demonstrable bodily harm to a peace officer, two counts of fourth-degree assault against emergency medical personnel, and a misdemeanor domestic assault.

The complaint details that police responded to a crisis call at a home in the 16900 block of Honeysuckle Lane. Nesbitt’s mother told officers he had pushed and spat on her.

Officers made contact with Nesbitt, who reportedly shouted profanities at them. He pulled a pocketknife out of his pocket, and police apprehended him.

Nesbitt reportedly resisted officers’ attempts to remove him from the house and had to be carried. While being carried, Nesbitt headbutted one of the officers in the head, resulting in the officer sustaining a concussion. Once in the ambulance, he scratched one paramedic and headbutted another.

If convicted of the fourth-degree assault on the peace officer, Nesbitt could face up to three years in prison and/or a $6,000 fine. The assaults on emergency personnel and the domestic assault charge carry additional potential penalties.

Nesbitt was released on $20,000 bail on Feb. 13 and is scheduled to appear in court on April 3.
