The following temporary road closure alerts were included in a Thursday, Sept. 23, Southwest Light Rail Project construction update.
Highway 62
Westbound lanes of Highway 62 between Highway 212 and Shady Oak Road are slated for closure from 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, through 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27.
Beginning Monday morning at 5 a.m., only one Hwy. 62 westbound lane and one Hwy. 62 eastbound lane between Hwy. 212 and Shady Oak Road will be open.
Additionally, the Highway 169 off-ramp to westbound Hwy. 62 will be reopened, but the eastbound Hwy. 62 on-ramp from northbound Shady Oak Road will remain closed.
The SWLRT project says that the temporary closures are necessary for light rail construction and the full restoration of Hwy. 62 over the new train tunnel near City West Station.
West 70th Street
Ongoing track work near the Golden Triangle Station means that West 70th Street between Shady Oak Road and Flying Cloud Drive remains slated for closure for through traffic until Monday, Oct. 4.
However, access to West 70th St. businesses west of Shady Oak Road to the construction area remains open.
Detour signs will be posted in all traffic-affected light rail construction areas.
The project’s website has more road closure information and detour maps for Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Hopkins, St. Louis Park and Minneapolis here.
