With the pandemic pressing down on us the need to stay at home has left many families scrambling for ideas to keep everyone entertained.
It is a challenge but it’s also the perfect time to focus on family and friends and to cherish the time spent with those who are most precious. To help spur a little action in your home we’ve put together a list of fun activities. We hope these ideas help you and your family.
Zoom or Facetime – A little online love goes a long way. Give your family or friends a virtual call. Both you and your loved one will appreciate the company.
Chopped (Food Network TV Show) Contest –Family members team up and make an entrée or an appetizer with a special secret ingredient. One lucky participant is the judge and dinner’s ready too!
Take up a new hobby – Have you always wanted to raise bees, make jewelry, or how about finally refinishing that old desk in the garage? This is the ideal time to start that new hobby you’ve been thinking about.
Plan your garden – Spring really is just around the corner. Now is the perfect time to plan your garden. Order those seed catalogs or better yet start your seeds indoors.
Hunt for Sheldon’s Wrench at Smiths – This is an annual winter event hosted by Smith’s Café and Coffee House for Eden Prairie residents. Participants follow daily clues and race to find the lost wrench throughout the city parks. Sledding & Ice Skating – Looking for that perfect hill to steer your toboggan down? Staring Lake has an incredible sledding hill that goes on forever and the new warming house is quite toasty.
Nurture Your Creative Side – Warm up the hot chocolate and enjoy a little craft time. Paint by number? Rock painting? Sewing? So many options!
Memory Board – Create a memory board or a motivational board for yourself or someone that needs a little happiness hanging on their wall.
Grandma’s Recipes – Find one of those heirloom recipes you’ve been meaning to make and bake the afternoon away! It’s fun and everyone will appreciate the delicious outcome from this tasty adventure.
Activity Books for the Kids – You can purchase great activity books online. They will entertain the kids for the afternoon and when the crayons are put away you can hang their artwork on the fridge.

Ice Fishing – Grab your fishing pole and head out to one of the many beautiful lakes that Eden Prairie has to offer. Remember to bring your fishing license.
Sharing Tree – Every year the Eden Prairie Historical Society and the Optimist Club sponsor a beautifully lit holiday tree at the Cummins’ Farmhouse. All our welcomed to add a special ornament on the tree any time in the month of December.
