Eden Prairie resident Vinod Pillai was triggered by the rare coincidence of two people of Asian Indian descent appearing on the U.S. presidential election ballot to create his first political cartoon.
Pillai commented, “USA is more diverse than ever. Maybe it is multiverse now,” while noting that the two people of Asian Indian heritage are on opposing sides of the ballot. Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, Pillai said, shares a name with his mother, while Usha Vance, wife of Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance, shares a name with Pillai’s wife.
Pillai, who will vote in his third U.S. presidential election this November, noted, “I am an Eden Prairie resident and Minnesota voter and got to vote and pick between the two.”
