The Eden Prairie High School girls’ hockey team earned its first victories of the 2024-25 season with back-to-back wins over Grand Rapids/Greenway and Hibbing/Chisholm on Friday and Saturday during a northern Minnesota road trip.
On Friday night at Yanmar Arena in Grand Rapids, the Eagles defeated Grand Rapids/Greenway 6-4 in a tightly contested game. Tied 2-2 after the first period, Eden Prairie surged ahead late in the second.
Senior forward and captain Ella Konrad scored with 40.4 seconds remaining in the period, tucking the puck under the goalie’s pad to give the Eagles a 4-3 lead. Senior defender Natalie McNeil followed up with a goal just 9.2 seconds later, sending Eden Prairie into the third period with a 5-3 advantage.
The Eagles carried that momentum into Saturday afternoon, overwhelming Hibbing/Chisholm with an 11-1 win at Hibbing Memorial Arena.
Eden Prairie dominated early, building a 4-0 lead in the first period and extending it to 9-0 by the end of the second. Konrad notched a hat trick with three goals in the Saturday win, while senior forward and captain Addy Mitchell scored twice, including a second-period shot that soared over the goalie’s shoulder to make it 8-0.
With the victories, Eden Prairie improved to 2-3-0 on the season. The Eagles will return home to face Maple Grove at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19.
