Eden Prairie Local News is mostly about reporting the news, but every once in awhile we find ourselves in the news. Check out some of these stories highlighting our unique endeavor:
- Jun. 18th, 2024 – EPLN is recognized in multiple categories by the Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists
- Jun. 4th 2024 – Mark Weber, an EPLN board member, officer and contributor is interviewed on Democratic Visions in regards to the shutdown of area newspapers
- Apr. 27th, 2024 – EPLN Publisher/CEO Steve Schewe is quoted in a letter to the Star Tribune
- Apr. 20th, 2024 – EPLN is mentioned in a Start Tribune article about local newspapers being closed
- Mar. 14th, 2024 – MPR broadcasts an interview with Kathy Saltzman about the Woodbury News project, where she credits EPLN.
- Mar 6th 2024 – Eden Prairie Local News is mentioned in the Pioneer Press.
- Mar. 3rd, 2024 – EPLN Publisher/CEO Steve Schewe is quoted in a Star Tribune article that cites EPLN as a potential model for a Woodbury news project.
- Feb. 21st, 2024 – An Axios Article mentions EPLN as an inspiration for a Woodbury local news project
- Dec. 13th, 2023 – Julianna Allen is interviewed by Fox9 about the EPLN Silent Struggles series
- Nov. 18th, 2023 – EPLN’s Silent Struggles series is highlighted on Democratic Visions
- Nov. 17th, 2023 – EPLN is included in the list of Local News Bright Spots by Northwestern University’s Local News Initiative
- Nov. 11th, 2023 – Jim Bayer is interviewed by Fox9 about the EPLN Silent Struggles Series

- May 14, 2023 – Electronic news journalism executive Mike McIntee and St. Thomas University Professor Mark Neuzil consider news deserts, emerging media and Eden Prairie Local News on Democratic Visions.
- Dec. 9th, 2022 – Editor & Publisher: Eden Prairie Local News launched as a nonprofit newsroom in the Minneapolis suburbs
- Dec. 9th, 2022 – Star Tribune: Deep staff cuts leave Saint Cloud Times a ghost paper

- Jun. 30th, 2022 – We were pleased that WCCO-TV covered the publication of our 1000th story in Eden Prairie Local News. WCCO Reporter Marielle Mohs contacted our publisher Steve Schewe, and he arranged to meet her at Smith’s Coffee on Eden Prairie Road. Alex Schuster, the manager of Smith’s Coffee, and Amina Adeyemi, owner and baker of Veeyon Cakes, sat for interviews.
- Mar. 28th, 2022 – CEO and Publisher Steve Schewe is a guest on the Real Talk With Rick Podcast.
- Oct. 11, 2021 – Founding EPLN editor Brad Canham, “news desert” researcher Nick Matthews and EPLN contributor Jeff Strate discuss the impact of communities that have lost their daily or weekly newspapers. The half-hour edition of Democratic Visions was launched on YouTube here. It subsequently began its run on Twin Cities area access TV channels.
- Jul. 17, 2021 – The debut of EPLN’s print edition is noted by the Star Tribune “Eden Prairie Local News debuts print edition” here.
- Mar. 25, 2021 – EPLN Editor Brad Canham spoke as part of a panel “Reflect on the Future of Media with Minnesota’s Newest News Outlets” hosted by Goff Public here.
- EPLN was featured in an Eden Prairie Community Foundation “News Makers” segment. The interview of EPLN Working Group Chair Jenifer Loon details several aspects of EPLN here.
